The Middle East Beyond the Arab Spring/ Dr. Emad Shahin, internationally respected Egyptian political scientist charged with espionage by the Egyptian military government, professor at The American University in Cairo and visiting professor at Georgetown University. Thurs., Dec. 4, 6 pm. Members-Only Dinner, Fall 2014: PROGRAM CHANGE: Alvin Y.H. Cheung, Visiting Scholar at the U.S.-Asia Law Institute, New York University School of Law, “One Country, Two Systems? Hong Kong Today.” Dinner at the Ristorante Caterina de’ Medici, Culinary Institute of America, Hyde Park, followed by lecture in the Eco-Lab Theater.

Sat., April 12 – 9:30 am – Student World Affairs Conference, Rockefeller Hall, Vassar College. All-day conference for students and the general public featuring keynote address by Amb. Robert Gosende, U.S. Special Envoy to Somalia for Bill Clinton, and papers by students from local colleges. Registration begins at 9:30 am. Fees: general public $30; no conference fees for all students; lunch is included for those who register by Tuesday, April 8. Woolner, Senior Fellow and Resident Historian of the Roosevelt Institute and Associate Professor of History of Marist College. Dr. Woolner will speak about Russian-Ukrainian relations.
